For many people, chemical exfoliation is a game-changer in their skincare routines. That said, not all skins require the same level of exfoliation to reap the benefits. Ishtar offers several chemical exfoliants suitable for different skin types in various types of products. If in doubt which of our products would be best suited for your skin, don’t hesitate to contact us, so we can help.
Cleansers
Our Ultralase Mandelic Gluconic Acid Face wash is one of our bestselling products.
It combines 6% Mandelic acid with 6% Gluconic acid in a proprietary blend of soap-free gentle cleansing agents. It gently exfoliates the skin and removes dead skin cells that can block pores.
Over time, it helps fade hyperpigmentation, evens the skin texture, and brightens the skin.
If you are new to acid-based products, we recommend using Ultralase Mandelic Gluconic Acid Face wash once every other day for at least two weeks. If your skin reacts well to the product, you can up the frequency.
Who is it for?
Adult skin prone to acne and breakouts. Likewise, it is good for normal, oily, and combination skin.
Clay to Milk Cleansing Powder combines low foam cleansing agents with Kaolin, Coconut, and Honey to gently purify the skin.
Pineapple extract is rich in enzymes and brightens the skin, while White Willow Bark extract clarifies.
Who is it for?
Normal, combination, and oily skin types. It is especially suited for sensitive skin prone to breakouts that doesn’t tolerate acids well. For drier skin types, we recommend using the product as a weekly exfoliating treat.
Prep & Glow PHA Exfoliating toner has 7% D-Gluconic acid and a pH of 3.5. Poly-hydroxy acids have the same benefits as Alpha-Hydroxy acid while being less sensitising on the skin. Aspen Bark extract helps purify the pores.
It gently exfoliates, improves the skin tone, and increases the skin’s hydration.
Who is it for?
Normal, dull, mature, and/or problem skin types.
Bi-Phase Shikimic acid Exfoliant is a dual-phase pre-cleanse treatment.
The water phase contains 10% Shikimic acid (derived from Star Anise), while the oil phase contains 2% Salicylic acid and organic White Tea extract. Shikimic acid gently exfoliates the dead skin cells, and Salicylic acid helps to refine the pores. A blend of gentle emollients conditions the skin and dissolves sebum.
Bi-Phase Shikimic acid Exfoliant is to be used on clean skin. Apply it to your face and remove it with your favourite cleanser. If you need a more intense skin conditioning treatment, you can leave it on between 20 and 30 minutes, and then remove.
Who is it for?
Dull or problem skin types.
Serums
Trizyme Pore Refining Treatment combines Pumpkin, Papaya, and Pomegranate enzymes to scavenge the dead skin cells that can block the pores. 1% Beta-Hydroxy acid is added in the form of Aspen Bark extract to clarify the skin and soothe inflammation. It works deep in the pores to clear the oily deposits.
Trizyme Pore Perfecting Treatment can be alternated with our more intensive treatments.
Who is it for?
Suitable for all skin types that need gentle exfoliation. Sensitive skin types prone to breakouts, and people prone to rosacea can also use the product.
Ultralase 10 Mandelic acid serum is another one of our bestsellers. It contains 10% Mandelic acid with a pH of 3.5. The hydrating base of the formula combines natural prebiotics and stress protection molecule Glycoin to soothe and hydrate the skin.
Mandelic acid is derived from bitter almonds and has proven anti-aging and antibiotic properties. It treats and prevents breakouts, fades post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and evens out the skin texture. All of these properties make it a suitable treatment for adult acne sufferers. Furthermore, it carries a low risk of causing pigmentation issues for darker skin tones.
If you are new to acid-based products, use twice per week in the evenings. If your skin reacts well to the product, you can up the frequency.
For people who haven’t tried Mandelic acid products, we also offer a trial size.
Who is it for?
Combination, oily, congested, and dull skin, as well as skin prone to breakouts. Ultralase 10 Mandelic acid is the strength we recommend for most skin types.
Ultralase 15 Mandelic acid serum is the strongest percentage we stock. It combines 15% Mandelic acid in a hydrating base of natural prebiotics, stress-protection molecule Glycoin, and hydrating polysaccharides.
Who is it for?
Like Ultralase 10, Ultralase 15 is used to treat congested, dull, uneven skin prone to breakouts. However, we recommend only using it as an occasional treatment for skin used to acid-based products.
Moisturisers
Our Ultralase 5 Mandelic acid moisturiser is a light moisturiser with 5% Mandelic acid and a pH of 3.5. It gently refines the skin, brightens, and hydrates. The formula also uses skin-conditioning amino-acid L-Arginine and Squalane. It can be used to treat uneven skin tone and congestion.
Ultralase 5 Mandelic acid moisturiser can be used daily. However, it is important to use sunscreen, as it makes the skin more sensitive to the sun.
Who is it for?
Normal, combination, and oily skin.
Azeloyl 10 moisturiser is formulated with 10% Azeloyl Glycine, a gentle exfoliant derived from Azelaic acid. It has all the same properties as Azelaic acid, namely to brighten the skin and regulate the sebum production. However, because the acid is bonded with the amino acid Glycine, it turns into a skin-soothing molecule.
Who is it for?
Normal, combination, and oily skin types. Azeloyl 10 is also suitable for sensitive skin prone to breakouts and oiliness.
Oils
Sebupore Exfoliating Facial oil with LHA is formulated with Lipo-Hydroxy acid. It is an ester of Salicylic acid that combines all the properties of Salicylic acid while being skin soothing.
The most notable immediate benefit is it clears congestion, but over time, it improves the skin texture and helps fade hyperpigmentation.
The formula also combines Green Cold Pressed Coffee oil (rich in antioxidants) and Saw Palmetto extract (that has sebum-regulating properties).
Lipo-hydroxy acid is a gentle acid and, as such, suitable for sensitive and teenage skin. Sebupore Exfoliating Facial oil can be used alongside our other exfoliating treatments. However, we would recommend introducing a new exfoliant only once or twice per week, in the beginning, to see how the skin will respond.
Who is it for?
Congested, oily, and combination skin.
