Brands would like us to believe there is one miracle skincare product. That is a bit of a stretch. However, certain ingredients can treat a number of skin issues. Mandelic acid is one such ingredient (it was developed by the same doctor who brought us Retin-A). A number of studies show that it is an effective treatment for photoaging, acne, and even melasma. Ultralase 10 Mandelic acid serum is one of our bestsellers. The formula was updated to make it even more beneficial for the skin.
Skincare benefits of Mandelic acid
Mandelic acid is an Alpha-Hydroxy Acid derived from bitter almonds. Because it has a large molecular structure it is better tolerated than Glycolic acid. Furthermore, because of its antibacterial and antibiotic properties, it is an ideal treatment for acne.
How we updated the formula
Ultralase 10 Mandelic acid serum now contains natural prebiotics and the natural stress protection molecule Gylcoin®.
Prebiotics serves as an energy source for probiotics. When used in skincare products they can help strengthen the skin, maintain a healthy pH, soothe, and combat inflammation. The most noticeable effect is they keep the skin well hydrated and improve the signs of dryness.
Gylcoin® (also known as Glyceryl Glucoside) is a natural stress protection molecule. It revitalizes aged skin cells, stimulates and improves cell function. Gylcoin® increases elasticity and thickness, improves skin’s smoothness and significantly boosts hydration.
How to use Ultralase 10 Mandelic acid serum?
If you have never used an acid-based treatment product before, apply Ultralase 10 Mandelic acid serum twice a week in the evenings after you cleansed your face.
If your skin tolerates the product well (there are no signs of irritation or peeling), after two weeks you can up the usage to every other evening. This level of frequency is effective in treating adult acne and melasma. That said – you don’t have to up the frequency as all skin types react differently and require various levels of exfoliation.
If you have sensitive skin, you can apply your regular moisturiser before the serum to slow down the delivery of the acid.
It can take up to 3 days to see if you have overused an AHA treatment product. If your skin gets crinkly and coarse, that is the first sign of peeling. Suspend use for a few days until the signs of peeling disappear and then you can reintroduce the product into your routine again.
It is necessary to use an SPF on a daily basis when you use treatment AHA products. If your primary concern is to treat hyperpigmentation, sun exposure re-actives pigment release and makes the treatment ineffective.
Who is Ultralase 10 Mandelic acid serum for?
Ultralase 10 Mandelic acid serum is suitable for most skin types. It specifically suited for acne and blemish prone skin or if you suffer from congested skin. Likewise, it is a fantastic treatment if you want to treat uneven skin tone and texture. Because Mandelic acid carries a lower risk of pigmentation issues, it is suitable for people with darker skin tones.
What else do you need to know?
Ultralase 10 Mandelic acid serum is suitable for vegans and not tested on animals. It is formulated with Ecocert preservatives.
All of our Mandelic acid products have a pH of 3.5.
