An Evening Routine For Aging Skin

One of the best things about getting older? Feeling comfortable in our skin and not giving a toss what anyone thinks. Growing older is a privilege so let’s embrace it (although popular media would have us believe life peaks at 25 *snort*).

That said – we don’t need to look like old leather handbags. As we get older our skin’s needs change. Unless you’ve hit genetic jackpot, sagging happens. Wrinkles happen. Dark circles happen. Discoloration happens. Don’t get us started on the chin hair. What the what is that about? But with a solid evening skincare routine you will wake up with a glowing complexion.

Cleanse

We said it once, we will say it again (and again) – cleansing is the most important step in your routine. As we get older, our skin tends to veer on the dry side. In the evenings do a double cleanse to get rid off your make up and sunscreen and prepare your skin for the rest of your routine.

Our Unmask Cleansing Oil will give you a deep cleanse without drying out the skin. It contains Organic Soya oil, Rice Bran and Jojoba oils and vitamins C and E (it is also SLS and mineral oil free).

For your second cleanse and if your skin is looking a bit dull, try our Clarity C foaming facial wash. It contains 15% of vitamin C and it will help fade sun damage and hyperpigmentation, minimise the appearance of wrinkles and refine the skin texture.

On the other hand if you suffer from breakouts for your second cleanse you might choose our Ultralase Cleanse. It contains 13% of Alpha Hydroxy Acids (a combination of Glycolic and Mandelic acid) in a gentle Aloe Vera base. Also you might want to check out our product suggestions for aging acne prone skin.

Chemical exfoliation

Our skin sheds on daily basis. As we grow older the process will slow down (hence our skin might look duller – the joy!). Chemical exfoliation will speed up the process and get your skin back to its radiant self.

Our Ultralase 10 Mandelic Acid serum contains 10% Mandelic Acid in organic Aloe Vera and it is beneficial for most skin types. It will treat a number of skin conditions – it will help fade sun damage and hyperpigmentation, treat acne and blemish prone skin and improve skin texture. If you are new to Alpha Hydroxy Acids start slow and use the product a couple of times per week. You can increase the usage if your skin tolerates the product well.

Treat

the benefits of retinol skincare

Another product that is essential in your evening routine? A serum. Serums have a higher concentration of potent ingredients than regular moisturizers. If you want to attack fine lines and wrinkles, repair sun damage and boost collagen production try our Bioactive 1% Retinol serum. Humble brag ahead – it is a game changer. It is a light water-y serum in organic Aloe Vera base with Vitamin E, Organic Green Tea and Gotu Kola Extracts.

If you are after some peptides and antioxidants our Synergy Age Rewind serum is an excellent choice. It works in two ways – it gives the skin an instant lift and the antioxidants and peptides trigger skin renewal so that over time wrinkles are minimised.

Moisturize

Last step is a nighttime moisturizer. In our 20s we could do with any old night cream. Once we hit 30s (and beyond) our skin requires something that packs a bit of a punch. Antioxidants, peptides, vitamins, you want it all.

Our Synergy Age Rewind Night Cream is packed full of goodness and ingredients that work in synergy to regenerate and renew the skin. It contains peptides that will boost collagen production, reduce fine lines and prevent new ones from forming. The formula also includes Glycolic Acid and vitamin C to refine the skin texture. As an added bonus you have Coenzyme Q10 (a powerful antioxidant) and organic botanicals to nourish the skin.
