Common Winter Skin Problems and How to Fix Them

Cozy sweaters, hot chocolate, long walks in the crisp air – you gotta love winter! Plus we welcome any season that gives us an excuse to bust out our scarves collection and binge watch Netflix. Any season change can be harsh on the skin and none more so than winter.

Dry/dehydrated skin

Central heating, cold air, change in the temperature – all of these can make your skin go haywire all of a sudden. For dry skin types it can mean tight, uncomfortable skin in the middle of the day. For oily and combination skin types it can mean overproduction of oil. A two fold approach will tackle this problem.

If you haven’t already, it is time to switch up your moisturizer. Dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin types will want a moisturizer that will nourish, soothe and protect. Oily and combination skin types will want a moisturizer that hydrates and balances to keep the oil production in check.

Hydraplus Cream contains 5% Oat Beta-Glucan and 5% Vitamin C in an organic emollient base. The formulas uses Cocoa butter, Tamanu and Jojoba oil to nourish and organic Calendula and Chamomile to soothe and calm. Hydraplus Cream boosts natural Hyaluronic acid levels and improves the skin’s natural repair function. It is suited for normal, sensitive and dry skin types.

Hydra Balm Emulsion with Alpine Willow Herb and Zinc is formulated to target the needs of oily and combination skin. It plumps and nourishes the skin while Alpine Willow herb works at the source of oil production to reduce excess sebum production. Hyaluronic acid hydrates and Zinc Oxide soothes skin and eases inflammation.

Another option to keep your skin happy during the winter is to layer a hydrating serum underneath your daytime and nighttime moisturizer.

Hydro-Magic Collagen Catalyst is suitable for all skin types. It works in three phases. It stimulates skin cells to produce more collagen. It protects the existing collagen from environmental damage. Last, but not least, its 72 hour hydration complex replenishes essential moisture reserves.

The key ingredient in Hydro-Magic Collagen Catalyst is Tripeptide-5 (Syncoll™). A number of clinical studies have proven that Tripeptide-5 (Syncoll™) significantly reduces wrinkle depth over a period of 28 days. Natural Moisture Factor complex with Beta-Glucan hydrates the skin.

Body dryness

It’s a known fact body gets dry in the winter. Hot baths and/or showers, layers of clothing, the skin on our body produces less oil as it is, it is no wonder skin can get uncomfortable. Skin conditions like eczema and Keratosis Pilaris tend to flare up in winter time. We said it once, we’ll say it again – no matter how tempting it might be to hop into a hot bath or under a hot shower, go with warm water instead (to avoid stripping your skin of oils). When you apply your body lotion do so on damp skin to lock in the moisture. And last, but not least – moisturize regularly.

Our Body Touch Kigelia lotion is suitable for all skin types that want long lasting moisturisation without the greasy after-fell. With 5% Kigelia extract, it soothes inflammation and improves skin’s elasticity and firmness. Enriched with organic Shea butter, Jojoba and Evening Primrose oils it intensely hydrates and leaves your skin soft and smooth.

Our Ultralase 8% PHA body lotion takes care of rough and bumpy skin that can plague us all in winter. Gluconic acid is a Poly-hydroxy acid that gently but effectively exfoliates to remove the build up of dead skin cells and improves the appearance of rough and bumpy skin. Natural moisturizing factors and Hyaluronic acid moisturize while Chamomile and Ginseng extracts soothe and soften the skin.

Dry/chapped lips

Dry and chapped lips are a common occurrence in winter. It seems that no matter what kind of balm you use on your lips nothing helps. Not to mention lips (like eyes) are quick to show the signs of aging. May we suggest our Lip Plenish Line Renewal serum?

One of the main ingredients in our formula is micro-encapsulated anhydrous Hyaluronic Acid. By using natural liposomes, Hyaluronic acid is carried into the upper layers of the lips. It slowly hydrates and plumps up the lip area. It can be used on its own or layered with your favorite balm.

Hexapeptide 11 is a nourishing peptide derived from yeast that up-regulates collagen, Hyaluronic acid and lipids to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The second peptide in Lip Plenish Line Renewal serum is Tripeptide 29 that increases the fullness of the lips by increasing fibroblast activity for ‘Collagen 1’ synthesis by a massive 400%. Vitamins C, E and A together with Safflower Seed, Carrot Seed, Blackcurrant Seed and Abyssinian Oils soothe, lock in the hydration and protect the lips against the environmental stress.
