The Basics of Lip Care

If you are reading this blog, chances are you have a solid skincare routine. It likely includes retinol, an acid, a treatment serum, a decent cleanser, and a moisturiser. While eye creams are controversial (people are typically either firmly for or against eye creams), one area we all tend to neglect is our lips.

What happens to our lips as we get older?

As we get older, lips show signs of aging too. A lot of it hangs on the genetics and lifestyle (as always). Fine lines might appear sooner if you are a smoker, in the sun a lot or if you have thinner, paler skin. Likewise, the same might happen if you purse your lips a lot when you talk. Furthermore, as we age, our lips lose collagen and Hyaluronic acid.

What can you do about it?

Lip area is tricky and prevention is the key. What that means is you might need to consider a dedicated lip serum that will hydrate and nourish the delicate skin on your lips. Also use a lip balm or serum that contains an SPF to protect your skin against the UV damage.

More advanced measures would include laser and chemical peels to improve skin texture and minimise the appearance of fine lines. Injectables (like Hyaluronic acid) can help to restore volume and give your lips some definition.

Pamper your lips with Lip Plenish serum

Our Lip Plenish serum includes a number of star ingredients.

Hexapeptide 11 – a nourishing peptide derived from yeast. It reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by upregulating Hyaluronic acid, lipids, and collagen.

Tripeptide 29 – another peptide which increases the lip fullness. It has been shown to increase fibroblast activity for ‘Collagen 1’ synthesis by a massive 400%.

Microencapsulated anhydrous Hyaluronic Acid – Lip Plenish formula uses natural liposomes as the delivery method for anhydrous Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is carried into the topmost layers of the lip where it slowly hydrates and plumps them up. The appearance of fine lines is reduced.

Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Extract – this natural extract boosts the action of vitamin A, C, and E. It boosts lip moisture, lip microrelief and prevents further environmental stress.

Vitamin A, C, and E – a vitamin combo designed to protect the lips against daily environmental stress and targets the signs of aging.

Safflower Seed Oil, Abyssinian Oil, Carrot Seed Oil, Blackcurrant Seed Oil – the formula also includes a number of micronutrient-rich oils to soften and ‘lock-in’ the lip plumping hydration of the Hyaluronic acid.

Lip Plenish is free from parabens, silicones and mineral oil. It is also vegan and not tested on animals. Lip Plenish can be worn on its own or underneath your favourite lipsticks, glosses or balms.
